GRORP DISCUSSION

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised group discussion on 12th December, 2013. To make the subject interesting, our department keeps on organizing such competition and the students also actively participate. There were two teams, namely, Team - A and Team - B with six students each. The discussion was on general topics of Calculus, Abstract Algebra, Differential Equations and Analysis. The discussion continued for one and a half hour.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AT B.F.C.E.T., BATHINDA

Mr. Nishant Juneja, Assistant Professor, presented a paper titled " The effect of disease on harvested prey predator system" in International Conference on Mathematics (IMS - 13) held at Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda on 24th - 26th October, 2013. The paper was further selected for publication in conference proceedings. The proceeding were published by ELSEVIER.

QUIZ COMPETITION

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised a Quiz Competition for P.G. students on 25th October, 2013. This competition was held to motivate the students and to build competitive spirit among them. The questions for quiz competition were taken from Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis and Linear Algebra. This competition was designed keeping in view that the students will be able to appear in higher exams like U.G.C., GATE etc. as in their daily studies, they focus only on subjective type questions.

Team - A got first position and the participants of Team - A were honoured with the prizes by H.O.D., Prof. S. S. Sandhu and the staff members of Mathematics department. The Students were encouraged by this activity and the teachers also motivated Team - B.

A TALK ON COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS

Mathematics Department organised various lectures on communicative skills to develop the skills of communication among the students so that they can easily interact with everyone. They are brained because they come from rural and backward areas.

CAREER COUNSELLING

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised a lecture based on the topic "Career Counselling"  in Ramanujan Block,  Department of Mathematics.

SEMINAR ON MATHEMATICIANS

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised a seminar in Ramanujan Mathematics Block on 5th September, 2013. The students of M.Sc. - II took part in the seminar. They were given some time to prepare the topics and they properly utilized the time and were successful in their research. These kind of activities are very useful for the participants and the audience as it makes them research oriented. It upgrades their knowledge and is very beneficial for them in higher exams. It also develops their interest in subject and makes their subject strong.

SEMINAR ON MATHEMATICIAN'S CONTRIBUTIONS

The Post Graduate Department of Mathematics organised a seminar in Ramanujan Block on 27th August, 2013. The session 2013 - 14 started with great enthusiasm and the students eagerly participated in the seminar. The seminar was based on Mathematicians. Each participant highlighted the history i.e. birth, various contribution in the field of Mathematics and death of Mathematicians and also submitted an assignment covering all of it.
