Bhagwan Dev Atma ( Founder of Dev Samaj ) came to the forefront with missionary zeal and pledged to uplift women from the marshland of the conservative society and lend dignity, respect and equal status to them. A great visionary and social reformer, Bhagwan Dev Atma verily believed that education of women alone could cure the malaise of the sick society and help in building free India. He took up cudgels on behalf of the hapless, illiterate women relegated mercilessly to the background. He fought tooth and nail to educate women, to make themselves reliant and independent. To this end, he established the first institution exclusive for girls in Lahore in 1886. In continuation to that Dev Samaj Society opened 22 educational institutions in Northern India only to promote women education. Today, thousands of women are being empowered every year under the umbrella of DSCW. Department of Mathematics organised a Quiz Competition on Dev Dharma on 19th November, 2016 in Mathematics Seminar Hall.

Tree day is organized by Post Graduate Department of Mathematics on 24th September, 2016 to encourage the students to plant one tree per year. The Faculty members of Mathematics Department along with students of M.Sc had done Tree Plantation with a belief that Trees make life nicer and it has been shown that spending time among trees and green spaces reduces the amount of stress that we carry around with us in our daily lives.
